A case management system is a database where all communication, documents and images submitted to support one employee's "case" or file are housed. Each submission is timestamped and organized within the system and available to approved managers. Once the case is closed, the file is archived and a new case can be opened if need be.
Case management systems can be built for any purpose but some of the most common are new hire, sick leave management, occupational therapy, tracking injury, paid sick leave and return to work.
